Fitness can transform whole-body health. If you exercise to prevent or treat a medical condition* such as diabetes, balance issues, arthritis, back pain, depression and many other chronic conditions, you may qualify to get a Letter of Medical Necessity to unlock your HSA or FSA funds through your employer and potentially get up to the entire cost of your YMCA membership reimbursed.

To qualify, a licensed medical provider needs to write a Letter of Medical Necessity detailing how exercise treats the specific medical condition. A family physician can provide such a letter, and Dr. B, a telehealth platform, also can provide qualifying patients with the Letter of Medical Necessity required for HSA and FSA fitness reimbursements.

Dr. B's medical consultations are available online for $15 at any time without an appointment. A licensed provider reviews the consultation within three working hours, and if a you qualify, a Letter of Medical Necessity will be emailed to you within a day. You can submit this letter and your YMCA membership receipt to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement. Savings often ranges between 20 and 40%. If you qualify, your letter of medical necessity is valid for 12 months and can be used toward fitness expenses, including Y membership, personal training and some YMCA evidence-based health programs, including Moving for Better Balance, Livestrong at the YMCA and Enhance Fitness.
