Sue Glass joined the YMCA of Greater Charlotte as president and CEO last month. Glass most recently served as president and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver, which she joined in 2018.
In Denver, Glass shaped a strategic roadmap that served as the organization’s “North Star” throughout the pandemic, implemented new operating and membership models, initiated a property redevelopment strategy to optimize the organization’s real estate footprint, launched culture-improving initiatives for staff and put in place efforts designed to amplify member satisfaction and retention.
Previously, Glass spent more than 20 years in roles of increasing scope and responsibility with the American Diabetes Association, ending her tenure there as a senior vice president with oversight of 49 nationwide field offices, 500 employees and a $125 million budget.
In 2024, the Charlotte Ys is celebrating 150 years of service to the community. Established in November 1874 by 23 founding members, the Y initially offered instruction in math, bookkeeping, stenography and carpentry. The early Charlotte Y also included temporary housing and was home to North Carolina’s first indoor pool.
Our NC Ys welcome Sue and celebrate the Y’s ongoing commitment to serving the Charlotte area community!
